The City of North Olmsted remains dedicated to continuing their efforts to identify the cremains of two additional World War II veterans. The Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, will serve as the final resting place for these revered veterans.

The forthcoming ceremony in Rittman, started at approximately 9:30 a.m., and featured a brief yet poignant service accompanied by full military honors. Subsequently, the cremains of another veteran were claimed by their family. Mayor Jones previously led a group to Rittman in November 2022, where two veterans were laid to rest with honor. Since then, the city has diligently worked in close collaboration with the Veteran’s Administration and officials from the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery to ensure a dignified burial for these heroes.

The cremains of the three veterans were removed from a closet within the Service Department of North Olmsted City Hall shortly after Mayor Jones assumed office in January 2022. Post 7647, emphasizing the community’s commitment to honoring our brave veterans. The solemn event commenced with a caravan departing from North Olmsted City Hall, where Mayor Jones was joined by members of V.F.W. The ceremony paid tribute to two World War II veterans and one Korean War veteran. Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones honored the service and sacrifice of three veterans by leading a special interment ceremony to the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman today.
